Here is an update on the Troy Davis case and the current call to action:

As you know, Troy Davis' execution date has been confirmed for Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 7pm in Jackson, Georgia.

The clemency hearing has been set for Monday, September. 19.  

The Global Day of Solidarity will be Friday, Sept. 16.  Groups are encouraged to organize an activity of any scale that day.

In Atlanta, on Friday, September 16, we will march from Woodruff Park at 6pm to Ebenezer Baptist Church (Dr. MLK's church) for an interfaith service there at 7pm.

Please continue to do the following things:

• Sign the petition to the Georgia authorities asking them to grant Troy clemency and encourage others to do the same.
• Attorneys, law professors: endorse a sign-on letter from legal professionals to the GA Board of Pardons & Parole. (non-lawyers: encourage friends who are legal professionals to endorse.)
• Members of the clergy (all faiths): endorse a clergy sign-on letter to the GA Board of Pardons & Parole (non-clergy: encourage friends in the clergy to endorse.)

Today, people reported difficulty signing the petition online because there was such tremendous traffic going to www.justicefortroy.org!  This case is driving deeper education and action towards abolition.  We need YOU to build on the incredible momentum and help make the connection from an individual case to the problems with the death penalty system and the need for abolition in Georgia!
