Fulton County Superior Court Judge Tusan granted an injunction staying Warren Hill's execution indefinitely until she can make a final ruling on the merits of his challenge to Georgia's new lethal injection secrecy act, staying his scheduled execution date of Friday, July 19th. According to reports, the State will appeal today’s ruling to the Georgia Supreme Court. Warren's habeas petition is pending with the U.S. Supreme Court. The habeas petition (http://goo.gl/GKBcX) includes new information about the unanimous finding of all doctors who have examined him that Mr. Hill is a person with mental retardation.
Please stay tuned for more information. We must remain ready to vigil should the stay be lifted and the execution go forward.
