Vigils for Warren Hill

As you know, Warren Hill’s execution was postponed until Monday, July 23 due to the change in lethal injection protocol by the Georgia Department of Corrections.
Though we’re still waiting for the United States Supreme Court to intervene; we are encouraged by incredible media coverage about Georgia’s rigid burden of proof put on defendants with intellectual disabilities.
We sent a message out earlier in the week encouraging people to attend one of the 11 vigil sites and we hope that you can join us.
This will be the first execution that will take place since Georgia took the life of Troy Davis less than a year ago despite serious concerns that plagued his case and an international movement urging Georgia officials to not proceed. And here we are yet again on the heels of national and international outcry regarding Georgia’s horrifying death penalty system.
It is so important that we show up on Monday and join in opposition to the state sanctioned killing that we’re told is happening in our names.
If you need transportation to the vigil at the Capitol, please contact Evelyn Lynn at and if you would like to attend the vigil at Jackson and have transportation needs, please contact Kathryn Hamoudah at
Thank you for all that you do and we’ll continue to keep you posted on any developments.
