ABOUT the AWARDS
The annual Mary Ruth Weir Human Rights Award recognizes social justice champions who have devoted their lives to standing up to oppression in the nonviolent pursuit of a society that does not practice capital punishment.
The Martina Davis Correia Courage Award honors those who demonstrate the courage, determination and compassion that defined Martina Correia’s life and activism. A powerful advocate against the death penalty, Martina fought tirelessly for her brother, Troy Davis, and for justice.
